A.F.C. EAST 1st - Missouri Arrows

Missouri is led by the current highest rated passer in the SRFL Milt Plum. The Arrows may not be perfect, they lost games to South Beach and St.Louis, but they are leading the AFC East by 1 game. When Plum has the passing game going Jim "Red" Phillips and Gail Cogdill can really get the chains moving. However the Arrows enjoy a secret weapon in the multi-faceted Gene Mingo.
In an era where the kicking game is iffy at best Mingo is off to a phenomenal start connecting on 13 of his first 14 field goal attempts. If that's not enough then add in the over 250 yards of offense he has provided plus 3 touchdowns. Fullback Don Bessler is leading Missouri with his 6 total TD's.

The Missouri defense has been active all season. Defensive End Gino Marchetti is often occupying two men and that opens up opportunities for Don Shinnick.
Shinnick has enjoyed a great first half of the season with 6 sacks plus a fumble recovery. Jerry Tubbs is leading the team in tackles with 45 and also has added a sack and recovered a fumble. Outside linebacker Tom Addison has been all over the field with 40 tackles, a sack, an interception and has recovered 4 fumbles! Cornerback Duane Wood adds two interception to round out the Arrows defense. Looking ahead to the second half of the season Missouri has a few big challenges on their schedule. The 6-2 Cleveland Rams come to Missouri and later in the season the Arrows wrap up the year by trying to avenge their two losses versus St.Louis and South Beach. WHile Missouri is in front now the AFC East is far from a done deal. Missouri Arrows Schedule Report
