What is it like when Lakewood loses a game? We don't know, hasn't happened yet. They have had a couple of close calls, including an epic 1 point win over Detroit but no losses. If it's a truism that you are what your record says you are, they are perfect. Maybe Don Shula is coaching them? Veteran Billy Wade has been quarterbacking brilliantly with the second highest completion percentage in the league. Wade has been the beneficiary of some great support. The VooDoo are second in the league in fewest sacks allowed. They are also the best rushing team in the league. Rick Casares is a bull from his Fullback spot and halfback
John David Crow is number two in the league in rushing.
Passing | Atts. | Comp. | TD's | Int. | Rtg. |
Billy Wade | 181 | 119 | 10 | 9 | 84.3 |

John David Crow | 100 | 677 | 6.8 | 47 | 4 |
Receiving | Rec. | Yards | Avg. | Long | T.D. |
Tom Rychlec | 32 | 298 | 9.3 | 17 | 1 |
Crow is having a career season behind Pro-Bowl level play from offensive linemen Eldon Danenhauer and John Nisby. Altoger the VooDoo are averaging over 27 points a game.
Needless to say you aren't going to be very successful without a good defense. The Lakewood 11 on defense are holding up their end of the bargain. The team is second in the league in allowing rushing yardage and also second in interceptions. Ron Nery and Jim Katcavage are good two-way Defensive Ends. You also would be hard pressed to find a better OLB tandem than Joe Fortunato and Matt Hazeltine. Dick "Night Train" Lane, has earned the accolades of mastering the cornerback position. When teams are inclined to avoid all of those players there's not much left to target. Opponents have attempted to exploit the other cornerback and that hasn't worked out too well. The league leader in interceptions is VooDoo CB
Dick Lynch. Lynch's six picks makes him number one in the league and combined with the other names on the Lakewood defense has helped keep the team unbeaten on the season.
There are a few hard contests left on the schedule for Lakewood. They face the 1 loss Canton Bulldogs and end the season with a rematch versus Rich East who they struggled to beat earlier 23-17.
